That pudgy little bush
is so curious,
how it just sits there,
alone in that wide open space.
And yet it very much belongs there.
It seems to anchor
the expansive sky
and the quirky trees around it
(leafy on the right side,
leafless on the left).
This short and stocky bush
actually has presence,
real character.
If it could talk, I bet it
would have us rolling.
Unless they’re covered
in gorgeous foliage,
most bushes blend into
the background.
But not this guy.
At first glance,
he’s nothing special.
But take another look,
and you see
he’s what makes this landscape
special in the first place.
P.S. I made the paper, people!
