I kept noticing these branches
out of the corner of my eye today,
fooled each time into thinking
there were twinkling lights
hanging from the tips.
Rather, they were tiny
pearls of frozen water
sparkling in the light of the sun.
I’ll take these over a string
of little plastic bulbs any day!
