These pretty little flowers
get no respect
simply because they’re weeds.
But, especially given that it’s Earth Day,
it’s time we start redefining beauty
and recognizing the little gifts
Mother Nature gives us each day.
She could have made every weed
an ugly, prickly intruder in our yards.
But these weeds are actually quite lovely
for as long as we let them last.
