I took this picture looking upat the criss-crossed vines of an arbor
in my brother’s front yard.
I love how little bits of blue sky
and sunshine
are peeking through.
Later in the day,
I slammed on my brakes
and pulled to the side of the road
to avoid – and then admire –
the amazing creature below.
I did a little research online
and I think it was a
huge snapping turtle.
Apparently, it’s mating season
and the females venture out
to look for suitors!
I’m fascinated by the details
of her body,
from her algae-covered shell
to her enormous feet.
I pray she made it to the other side!
