getting stopped
at railroad crossings.
I sit there
watching those
strong steel wheels
carry an endless string of
enormous freight cars
and am reminded
of the way things work
and how far we’ve come.
Think of what a monumental
day it was when trains
could first criss-cross the country,
delivering food and materials
and medicine and passengers.
Sitting there at that railroad crossing,
I’m reminded of the big and little
steps it took to get us this far
and the innovation it will take
to progress us further forward.
It all starts with an idea.
