This busy butterfly
has made herself at home
in our front yard,
zipping around the garden
for the past few days,
rarely stopping anywhere
for more than a few seconds.
There’s always only one,
with brilliant orange
and black and white wings,
fluttering about.
There were many failed attempts
at snapping a picture,
but I finally caught her
with her wings closed,
resting on a tree trunk.
I was amazed to see
the intricate pattern
and beautiful coloring
on the underside of her wings.
I am so in awe of God
when I see something so stunning
on something so small.
If he (or she) took the time to create
this masterpiece in a butterfly,
just think how much time
went into making beautiful you.
