Just think:
these rocks have been here
hundreds if not thousands of years.
As a kid, I was always fascinated by
the shapes, colors and textures of rocks.
I collected my favorites in a basket
and felt they connected me
to another time and place.
My son and I have now begun
this small collection.
We spent hours digging for rocks
in the sand on our trip last week,
marveling at their beauty
and wondering about their history.
I’m thrilled he shares my appreciation
for these little jewels of the earth.
