I turned my TV on this morning
and the “Ellen Show” came on.
I’d never really listened
to the words of her theme song,
but they came through
loud and clear this time.
The vocalist sings over and over,
“Have a little fun today…
Give a little love away!”
What a great message to put out there,
to encourage viewers to enjoy life,
to dance through it as she does,
and to spread a little love along the way.
One way to spread a little love
is to appreciate the beauty around you,
to love what is.
Before or after I take a picture,
I offer a silent thank you.
And sometimes I swear
I can almost hear
the sunlight
or the trees
or the water
say thank you right back.
It’s an easy way
to love
and feel loved
each day.
