Lots of folks have been
mumbling and grumbling
about all the snow
that fell in these parts
on the first days of spring.
I actually thought it was a lovely
(and pretty laughable)
way to welcome the new season.
Apparently, I found a kindred spirit
on the freeway today.
I had to look twice as this Volvo
passed my car;
the driver was wearing
an enormous straw hat
covered in plastic sunflowers
and long blades of grass!
She was literally using her head
to create a sense of spring!
And when she pulled in front of me,
her license plate said it all:
FOR JOY.
