You realize how rare it is
to see a rainbow
once you start looking for them.
This project started with a rainbow
and the realization
that I may have missed
many such miracles
due to the frantic pace of my life.
Since then, I have witnessed
an extraordinary amount of beauty,
but rainbow sightings have been
few and far between.
So, I was elated to see two
arching across the sky
within the span of several recent days.
For this one, I had my camera
and tried repeatedly to get a decent shot.
For the other, I had no camera
and was actually grateful for the chance
to just be present
and take a mental picture
of one of nature’s sweetest gifts.
