After a hefty snowfall here,
most parking lots wind up
with a mountain of snow like this,
created by plows and bulldozers
that pile on load after load of fallen snow.
It’s such a common sight
that we barely notice them.

As far as I’m concerned,
it’s not officially spring in Minnesota
until every last mountain
melts to the ground,
which can take a mighty long time
but is well worth the wait.
