Remember when playground slides
were just sheets of metal
that took you on a straight shot
from up to down,
usually way too fast
or way too slow?
Now, most neighborhood parks
are jungles of pretty, primary-colored
plastic and metal,
complete with slides that twist and turn
and tickle kids’ funny bones.
Same premise as the classic slide,
but it makes that short trip
back to earth
a bigger, better adventure.
