I swear this spider web
was not there yesterday,
wrapped around my potted plants
just outside the front door.
What an amazing feat this is,
to create such a sophisticated structure
in such a short time
(and with no construction crew).
Did you know a spider’s silk
comes from several glands
at the top of its abdomen?
Each gland produces
a special type of silk,
from sticky silk for trapping prey
to fine silk for wrapping it up.
Even if spiders
make your skin crawl,
you can’t ignore
the tiny miracle that exists
in every web they spin.
