I’ve decided butterflies
are happiness in physical form.

Just think:
this beautiful monarch
was a caterpillar not so long ago,
only able to see the world
from the ground up
and forced to inch along
ever so slowly to get anywhere.
Eventually, it practiced complete
solitude and silence,
wrapped in a cocoon
with no guarantee life would ever improve.

But then, one day, it happened.
And wings to boot!
Imagine the joy a butterfly must feel
when it discovers it can FLY!
That’s not a happiness you can shake;
it’s probably thrilling every single morning,
when the fomerly down-and-out caterpillar
discovers she’s still got the goods to soar.
