Ever wondered how you can possibly be
SO different
than someone in your family?
I suspect roses do, too.

Each one is absolutely exquisite,
but completely different than the others.
Much like you may share
similar mannerisms or features
with a seemingly different relative,
roses have their own similarities.
You know a rose when you see one,
even though each one
is so distinctive and different.

Maybe most fascinating to me
is that even their centers –
the core of their beings –
are not quite the same.
To each his own.

Why stop to smell the roses
if there’s only
one variety,
one color,
one way of growing.
They’re there to remind us
we are each wonderfully,
magically unique
and that everyone we know is, too.
