Minnesota has given the world
many wonderful gifts.
Prince.
A mall the size of a city.
Garrison Keillor.
The start of the Mississippi.
Target.
Post-It Notes.
Betty Crocker.
Bob Dylan.
The Coen Brothers.
Cheerios.
Spam.
The Mayo Clinic.
But I’ve decided
the state’s greatest gift of all
is the honeycrisp apple,
developed at the University of Minnesota
and now delighting tastebuds
everywhere.
My fall
(heck, maybe even my life)
is no longer complete
without them.
