Hanukkah ended last night
after eight days of celebration.
On the second night,
we were honored to be invited
into the home of our dear friends,
where my six-year-old helped to
light this beautiful menorah.
It has been passed down
through multiple generations
of their family,
with hardened drips of candle wax
from past celebrations.
I’m sure it serves
as a meaningful and tangible
connection to their past,
while also lighting the way
to their future.
