My husband’s grandmother turns 90 tomorrow.
She hasn’t been feeling well,
so instead of having a party
she wanted to receive cards in the mail.
My six-year-old has only met her once
(she lives hundreds of miles away),
but when I told him we needed
to create a card for her,
he said he knew exactly what to draw.
I half-expected a picture of
Darth Vader or a baseball diamond,
but instead he floored me
with this beautiful river,
an apple tree (“with a hole in it”)
and two pink flowers.
I think it’s just perfect.
