I spent the evening with girlfriends
at a buzzing little bistro called Cafe Maude.
I love independent restaurants and stores
with distinctive quirks and lots of character.
This one has plenty,
including the tattered old book cover
that the bill was tucked inside.
The inside cover has become a mini graffiti wall
swarming with comments from happy diners.
“Here’s to good company and good wine!”
“Jim and Sue were here!”
“Never fall in love at the Jersey Shore.”
“He’s about to become a doctor…patients, beware!”
Each scribble captures a special moment in time.
With every note, it’s easy to imagine the
romantic dinners,
robust laughter,
shared wisdom,
life celebrations.
And, clearly, plenty of wine!
