When the video for the new version of We Are the World aired last night on TV, I was surprised how emotional I got – especially when the old footage and audio of Michael Jackson appeared alongside a new recording with his sister, Janet. This was such an inspired idea 25 years ago – a brilliant and uplifting way to raise money for those in need. More than 80 stars came together again this month to record a new version – complete with a rap sequence and native Haitian Wyclef Jean singing in traditional Creole – to raise funds for relief efforts in Haiti.

Above is the full behind-the-scenes music video. Enjoy it…and then download a copy of the song or video for yourself to help raise funds. You can go to World25.org or find the links at the iTunes Store Home Page. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the mayhem and messiness of our own lives…but so important to occasionally step back are realize how blessed we actually are. As the song reminds us,

We are the world.
We are the children.
We are the ones who’ll make a brighter day
So let’s starting giving.
