I took my first grader to a symphony concert for youth yesterday.
Towards the end, the conductor invited all the kids in the audience
to share the stage with the orchestra and sit there through the last song.
What a riot!
The kids were already a bit restless after a nearly two-hour concert,
so they had no interest in being on their best behavior up on stage.
Some stretched out for a cat nap on the stage,
others started climbing the stair banisters
and my favorite – two little girls sitting near the violinists –
sat through the entire piece plugging their ears!
Kids say – and do – the darndest things;
I just adore their innocent, authentic approach to life!
