We had an unexpected visitor today at my aunt and uncle’s Florida condo:
an alligator sunning himself by the community pond!
Don’t worry – we kept our distance.
But it was wild and wonderful to get to watch this incredible creature.
If I didn’t know any better, I might have even thought
he was a harmless, happy guy with that big toothy grin.
And maybe he is.
He’s basking in the sunshine next to a pond full of big fish,
and he has humans admiring him from every angle.
Why wouldn’t he be the happiest alligator on earth!?
I would like to believe
that happy alligators = friendly alligators
(though I chose not to test my theory today).
