I have never liked carnations. They always seemed like fake flowers to me, available in all sorts of crazy unnatural colors and cheap enough for school dance corsages and fast food restaurant table decor.
I recently received a brilliant bouquet from friends with a dazzling array of vibrant blooms. Such a day brightener! And at first glance, I didn’t even see that it included carnations. But when I sat down for a minute to take in the beauty of this gorgeous gift, there they were: lovely multi-toned, pink carnations with petals that looked like they’d been trimmed with pinking shears and far more depth than I’d ever noticed.
I love when I think I know exactly what I think, but am shown something that turns my stubborn thoughts upside down. See, I have never liked carnations. But now I’m pretty sure I do.
