I don’t believe in coincidences. I do believe in signs. And I’ve got one that’s just too fun to keep to myself! As many of you know, I left my cushy job in cubicle land back in 2007 to pursue my true passions, spend more time with my kids, and become a better me. It’s been fantastic. The only hurdle for me has been getting used to and managing the ebb and flow of income. Some months are great, others not so much.
While I have lots of different revenue streams – like writing, speaking, art, radio hosting – there’s no real safety net to rely on. There are definitely days when I miss that direct deposit; trusting the same amount would show up in my account every two weeks was such a luxury I took for granted.
So, the hubby and I have had to get really serious this month about budgeting, paying off debt and planning for the future. We found a wonderful financial advisor; nothing catapults you into reality like having someone else look at every detail of your budget (or lack thereof, ahem). Though it has been far from fun, it has been rather empowering to look long and hard at where we’ve been, what we’ve done (and spent) and where we go from here. And it feels like we’re on the right track.
That brings me to the ‘sign’ I mentioned at the start of this post. I’ve written here before about how much I love the number 11. Whenever I see a string of 1s – from 11:11 on the clock to 111 on a license plate – I feel like it’s a little wake-up call from the powers that be, reminding me to pay attention to all the blessings in my life.

Yesterday, I filled out a deposit slip for several checks from sales of my art last weekend. When I added them up, the total was $111.00. It took my breath away because – get this: the last time I deposited a handful of checks {on March 1st) the total then was also $111.00. What are the chances!?!? Goosebumps!!!

I Googled the metaphysical meaning of 111, since everyone from astrologers to numerologists have opinions on this. And they all seem to say the same thing: that 111 is a “huge” sign that my thoughts are creating a new cycle in my life {hello!}. My favorite number resource is angel expert Doreen Virtue’s little pocketbook called Angel Numbers 101. Here’s what it says about seeing the number 111:

“This number brings you the urgent message that your thoughts are manifesting instantly, so keep your mind-set focused upon your desires. Give any fearful thoughts to Heaven for transmutation.”
Doesn’t matter to me if someone thinks this number stuff is a bunch of hogwash. To me, it resonates and makes the little hairs on the back of my neck stand up. It’s reminding me to keep paying attention to the magic in my life, to envision only the highest good for me and my family {and our finances!} and to trust that anything is possible. Message received, universe – loud and clear!
