Every Friday, the Little Bliss List provides a chance for us to celebrate the little things that brought us hope and happiness this week. I do believe when we focus on the sweet stuff of life, the sweet stuff multiplies. And by sharing those small gifts in our lives, we help others notice the gifts in theirs.
Last night, I hit a wall. The whole family went gift shopping for a local family we sponsored and, as we walked down the aisles of Target, I could feel myself slipping into a dense fog…a hangover of sorts. I told you I was tired during the last Little Bliss List. But this was full-on fatigue, hitting me like a ton of bricks. I’d worked so hard over the past couple of weeks preparing to launch this (which I’m also totally blissed out about!) – and my body was so good to me, staying strong despite low sleep and high stress. But by last night, it just started shutting down. My eyes stung. My shoulders hurt. My words slurred.
Once we were home, Brad ordered me to rest. I opted for the couch. “Fine – but NO WORK,” he said. I agreed, actually grateful for the line he’d drawn in the sand. I was too tired to do that for myself. I stuck I’m Fine, Thanks into the DVD player; I received it months ago after supporting the producers via Kickstarter. The movie was a cool exploration of how we get stuck in jobs or lives we hate – and the clarity or shift that often comes when we least expect it. Gosh, being curled up on that couch, with a little dog nuzzled up against me, a mug of chai tea on the coffee table and no deadlines to think about? Pure bliss.
I got a good night’s sleep, too – so the fog has lifted and I’m able to recall some of the other blissful moments from the past week. Two candlelit dinners with dear friends. Reading Harry Potter to Ryder at night; sometimes we get so into the story, we read waaaaay past his bedtime. Getting groceries on a Tuesday afternoon – alone (love that my flexible schedule allows me to do this). And the beautiful snow that fell last weekend; even though it caused some headaches on the road, I love that it’ll be a white Christmas here.
What moments brought you pure joy this week? I’d love to know where you found bliss…or where bliss found you. You can leave a comment – or participate in the linky party below through Sunday at midnight central {and click on other entries below to visit other blissful bloggers}.
